#MarriageEquality

I normally avoid social subjects on Xadara. This site is more about my commentary on technology and entertainment, but I felt I absolutely have to say something here.

Good job United States Supreme Court.

I hate that it took until 2015 for this to happen, though. It isn’t that hard of an idea, if you ask me – Two grown adults who love each other should be able to be married. How hard of an idea is that? However, there have been and will continue to be objections abound to this.

These objections all seem to be based on one thing – theology. I’m not going to get into what I believe or don’t believe, because that is irrelevant here. It doesn’t matter what anyone believes religiously on marriage because the entire process is a secular one. It is a legal status, issued by a state government for a simple fee and a bit of paperwork. The traditional bride and groom in a church are just that – a tradition. It’s a ceremony the couple chose to do, not in any capacity a requirement for the process. All that matters is the state issued paperwork is filled out and approved.

Done. That’s it. If everything checks out, the pair is married. No religion involved whatsoever. No one is stopping anyone who wants to have such a ceremony from having such, but it isn’t required, and never will be.

That is all I have to say on the subject.  I will go no further because that will deviate from the subject at hand. Love is something all humans have. All humans should be able to share their love equally.

Today, the United States finally moved one step closer to true equality for all its citizens, and I couldn’t be happier.
