It’s a new year and that means a new Call of Duty game. This time, the name of the game is Infinite Warfare, and it looks to follow the futuristic theme of games like Ghosts and Advanced Warfare.
It had been previously leaked that the title of the new game was going to be Infinite Warfare, but this is our first actual look at the game, and it looks pretty awesome.
That’s the key word though. It looks awesome. Trailers often do, but the games don’t hold up nearly as well as one would hope. With Call of Duty, this isn’t quite the case, thankfully, and I would hope that, most of the elements we see in the trailer do show up in the final game, as some things, such as flying a futuristic space fighter craft, look like welcome departures from the traditional run and gun gameplay of your average first person shooter.
From what I have seen, it looks like the developers are focusing more heavily on the story and the main campaign than usual, and while, for the little bit of Call of Duty I have played in the past I’ve enjoyed the stories, some are indeed more dynamic and gripping than others. That being said, though, while I am more of a Halo person myself.

Anyway, the fact remains we knew there would be a new Call of Duty game this year, as there is every year. This looks like it will be the first Call of Duty game available exclusively for the Xbox One and Playstation 4, as the previous entry, Black Ops 3, was stripped-down, missing it’s campaign mode, on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Infinite Warfare, then, should be the first Call of Duty game to take advantage of every benefit the Xbox One and Playstation 4 can provide game developers,
As I have said before, I’m not a major Call of Duty player – Indeed, I’ve only recently started playing the games this past year, and only casually at that. I do enjoy them, for what they are, and even the multiplayer, which is normally something I’m not fond of, I can find myself having fun with. To that end, Infinite Warfare will be the first Call of Duty which I will actually be paying attention to upon release. I certainly won’t buy it first thing, but I will keep more attention focused to it than I normally would a game release such as this.
After all, Call of Duty is arguably the series which carried the last generation of gaming. It’s worth keeping up with its evolution if only for that sake, is it not?
Of bonus note is the fact that various editions of the game will come with a remastered version of the 2007 hit Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, probably the game which began the rise of the Call of Duty series to the top of the sales lists each holiday season.
