As I write this entry, I’m in a time crunch. At any given moment I could experience an issue that has been plaguing the site the past 24 hours or so. In this case, it’s something to do with the MySQL server, and it basically giving up every few hours.
What does this mean to you? Simple. If you are reading this, then everything is working fine. If not, then, well, you won’t know why till you do get to read this. You are probably seeing some server error, or a default wordpress error screen then.
What I hate is that there is absolutely nothing I can do about this on my end. All I can do is let the hosting company know it is happening and hope they will be able to fix the issue. I say that in a sense that I know they will try, and I’m sure they can, but you never know if it is something on their end, or if you broke something yourself. At least, with my somewhat novice understanding of web server operations, I could see myself as being the cause of some issues.
In this case, though, I’m certain something has happened on their end, and they just need to be made aware of it. This isn’t a scathing post against my hosting company, no, this is just me basically saying “hey, I know there is an issue with the site, it will be fixed as soon as possible.
Oh, for those of you wondering what the heck MySQL is, it’s just a way to manage SQL databases, those being the bulk of the information you are seeing right now. You know, this post text, tagging, etc… web sites for the past decade are quite different from what was common back when I was in high school, that’s for sure.
