Looks like Destiny is falling into the yearly update cycle proper with this next expansion – a cycle started last year with The Taken King expansion. Steady content updates are good things, you have to keep games like this fresh for people to keep wanting to play, and considering the love it or hate it nature of Destiny, these yearly updates are now make-or-break points for this Online Shooter.
Now, I like Destiny, for the most part. I do think the game is crippled by limited exploration area and somewhat stagnant, repetitive grind when out and about on patrols, but the missions, and the world, make up for this somewhat, and even more so, the actual gameplay itself, involving the control of your character, the combat, and the gunplay, is spot on – Destiny really is just a treat to play, at least to me.
That all being said, let’s get down to this new expansion. I haven’t read up on it yet, but it, sad to say, looks like standard fair. New enemy attacks, new way to fight back, new area, new group content I will never get around to doing, and new in-patrol random attack events to partake in. At least, that’s what I’m thinking it will be, basically House of Wolves or Taken King redux.
Don’t get me wrong, like I said, I like how Destiny is, but I wish they would add more over time. Give each planet multiple locations to patrol, make more random events happen, maybe have special limited time missions that rotate, or something… but mainly, just expanding the world so that I don’t feel like I’m trapped in the same little loops of levels, that would be awesome.
Oh, and lastly, making more top end content that a solo player, like me, can do. That would also be nice.
Anyway, here we go, the reveal trailer for Rise of Iron.
