It’s coming down to the wire for the holiday season, and one thing that is invariably going to happen, and has already been happening day in, day in, the past few months is items being out of stock in stores. This is just how it works, and, amazingly, some people just don’t seem to grasp this concept.
Ah, good news though for many of you: items can be specially ordered. Depending on the store, you can, if inventory is available, place an order online for just about anything – even more, if you are in the store and they have the setup for it, you can place a different type of order! Awesome, right?
Now, as we get closer to Christmas, you are less likely to find items than ever, and it’s even more unlikely you will be able to place a special order. Sometimes, though, it is possible, which is great for the customer, but one thing inevitably seems to become a life or death event: it arriving before Christmas.
Most of the time, people just make a decision to either get it, or not, and just roll with it. Other times, people get mad. Very mad, as if the logistics of taking one item and sending it from a warehouse somewhere to either their door, or to a store, is somehow our fault and we are intentionally doing this (much akin to how people think we somehow intentionally don’t have items in stock – an insane proposition) and that we are responsible for the item not being there by December 25th, not their own lack of buying the item the other 11 months of the year it is available (in most cases).
I understand, when purchasing a Christmas gift, wanting it to be there on that morning, as per tradition, but what’s the harm if it is a few days late? Hell, for kids, they are out of school from about a week before Christmas to early in January, at least in the area I live in, so it isn’t like they can’t enjoy it if it comes on the 27th or 28th. They still get it!
Regardless, some people would rather just not order the item, which is insane to me. Then again, waiting until the last minute to buy anything is insane to me: any bit of thought would tell you to get the items as early as possible, but I guess life gets in the way.
One last thing to note, when you want order something off of a website, it’s called “ordering it online” not “order offline.” I think you mean “order off of online” but you just mashed it together. Stop. Please. People in retail, and in the tech scene, will thank you for it.
