Another absolute classic of an episode, the Nerd’s review of Back To the Future, on NES, continues to set the standard form of the Angry Nintendo Nerd series through 2006 and in to 2007.
James makes some solid complaints about the game, in that it seems to barely relate to the film beyond sort of being set to follow the events of the film very loosely. I really have nothing to comment about here, as odd as that sounds – it all speaks for itself.
Yep. It’s bad.
This episode does us one better than previous episodes though, by having James cover the possibly worse Back To the Future 2&3 game cart, a game which tried to be more like a typical platforming game of the era, but still fails to deliver being overly complex and annoying.
I actually did rent the BTTF 2&3 game as a kid, and I can tell you I didn’t have a clue at all what to do, even with instructions. The damn games a mess, and I think James does a good job tearing it apart.
While not the first games published by LJN, the coverage of these games, added with “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” would start the trend of James addressing every game he could published by them, but we will come to that as time passes.
Back to the Future Parts 2 & 3 for the NES is, quite possibly, worse than the first game!
Like I said, not too much to say about this episode, it really speaks for itself. James would cover the first game again years down the line, covering it further, but I won’t get into that here – time will come for us to discuss that in more detail.
Oh, and let’s not forget James blowing up the game in a toaster at the end. Compared to later episodes I’d say that game got off easy.

The episode flows well, and while it’s short, it delivers a good bit of comedy mixed in with rather serious criticism of games that could have, and should have, been awesome. The episode gets stale watching it years on, but it’s not bad by any means.
