Amazingly, I don’t have much to share today on Vostok 1. I covered most everything I could possibly need to cover on the mission last year, and, suffice it to say, there amazingly isn’t that much video or special content out there on this mission – at least, nothing I’m quite feeling like sharing at this time.
That being said, I did want to share a simple though: This was humanities first adventure into space. Yes, it was a mission launched by the Soviet Union, but it was a human accomplishment. I really feel that the national element should be downplayed when speaking of space, and that more cooperation (and better funding all around) should be a priority – I’m tired of hearing people complain that United States astronauts are having to ride Soyuz spacecraft to the Space Station – this shouldn’t be a problem, but of course, people just have to bring their politics in and make it a problem.

I don’t like to get too into politics here, though, so I’ll leave what I have said here as all I will stress. To end this very short article, I’ll share a simple video of the launch.
Remember, tonight is “Yuri’s Night” so look up to the stars and think, for 56 years we have been among them learning just how the universe actually works, and your day to day life is better for it.
