On May 18th, 1969, John Young, Tom Stafford, and Gene Cernan began an 8 day mission that would act as a “dress rehearsal” for the planned manned landing on the Moon of Apollo 11. This flight was the 2nd of 4 that would be launched in 1969, and would serve to test the Lunar Module in lunar orbit, and test an abort scenario during a lunar landing attempt.
In keeping with my desire to post as much as I can (within reason) about these various missions, we have here the launch of Apollo 10, in particular the CBS feed, as provided by the wonderful YouTuber “LunarModule5.”
It’s not the best quality footage, but it is as it was, and does have a very cool shot of the Saturn V rising from the pad, which makes it worth checking out at least the initial lifoff, if anything from the video.
