Don’t get me wrong, I’m quite excited for Destiny 2, but this trailer was somewhat lacking. It shows a bit more of the upcoming story, but we all know this is all footage we will see in the first 10 minutes of the game! Looks like the Cabal are really laying siege to the City, and we have one big boss badass leading the pack, which at least gives us a solid nemesis this time around, or so at least this trailer makes it seem.
We see a little bit of action footage, before the trailer shifts to the typical slide-and-dice “platform exclusive” content promotion that you get an exclusive strike, gear, weapons, and pvp equipment if you play on the Playstation 4.
Yeah, I know, these deals are lucrative, and if I had a game out there you would certainly be right to think I’d probably do something special with Microsoft regarding it, but as it stands from the consume end, I hate this garbage more than I do console-exclusive 3rd party games. Ah well, this isn’t the place to complain about that (and no, I don’t care about this stuff beyond principle, so even if I did play on Playstation much of the provided content would be meaningless to me) but since it’s in this trailer, why not, right?
One thing to pay attention to, at the end of the story trailer portion where the Destiny 2 Logo and the September 6th release date are shown (which is a day ahead of what it was originally going to be, I believe) there is tiny text saying
Footage shown is equivalent to PS4 Pro.
…Ahem, equivalent to, eh? So, you mean to tell me this isn’t being rendered on a system at all? Right, good to know. Forgive my cynicism but that doesn’t bode well if they have to stress what the footage is “close to” rather than actually running it on X, Y, or Z console.
I just wanted to point that out, really. Anyway, enjoy!
