Okay, we’ve got a double shot of Nintendo news today. Starting off with the news of Nintendo urging those who want the SNES Classic console, due to release later this month, to not pay above the retail price for one – this going hand in hand with Nintendo saying that they will produce more SNES Classic consoles than they did NES Classic consoles – there will be enough available. At least, again, that’s what Nintendo is saying.
Nintendo says that the reason the NES classic was somewhat rare was that they were basing production rates off of the sales rates of other “retro” consoles, like the Atari Flashback.
Right… Who in the hell are the people working at Nintendo who don’t realize the demand that name has? They speak so highly of their brand, and go out of their way to take down virtually any project online ever that even remotely has anything to do with their property, but somehow they don’t comprehend that outside of a few failed consoles, virtually anything with the Nintendo brand name on it will sell.
ESPECIALLY A MODERN EMULATION MACHINE THAT IS BASED ON PERHAPS *THE* MOST POPULAR CLASSIC GAME CONSOLE IN HISTORY, THE NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM.

It looks like this is being rectified though, as today I learned that Nintendo apparently is planning on bringing back the NES Classic edition in 2018. Will this be a “permanent” thing? Doubtful, but maybe they will produce them for a longer periold of time, possibly alternating production between the SNES Classic and the NES Classic, or maybe producing them constantly for the foreseeable, like they should have done to begin with and selling them as a “standard” console option for playing classic games.
Oh Nintendo… a company everyone seems to love but at the same time a company that seems to not even grasp just how big they are except when they make all the wrong moves.
