It’s the evening of December 21st, 2017 as I type this. We have effectively 9 days left of 2018, and I still have quite a bit to write about before the year is out. I’ve mentioned before about the massive backlog of things I’ve been wanting to cover. Old subjects that are lost, things that are still somewhat relevant, things that are timeless or inherently discussions in retrospect and of course the typical current events in gaming, space, and more.
That’s what’s really caused me problems, recently, though, is a time crunch in getting out a set of articles I’ve been overdue on for months – the “Cult of SpaceX” series. It’s pretty straightforward, actually – just a set of articles explaining my frustration with the fanbase of the rocket manufacturer and launch provider SpaceX, as well as some nuances of the company itself. It’s a typical part of my nature – when I see something that isn’t being addressed, I tend to address it. If that happens to be a point that people don’t like, well, that’s their problem.
I don’t like having to write all this, though – I mean, I’ve already started, so I kind of need to finish, and it’s also somewhat therapeutic for myself – getting my frustrations with things I’m passionate about out there, so that anyone can read it and take from it what they will. The problem comes in that it seems, well, negative.
Contrary to my critical nature, I’m not actually a negative person. I do however speak my mind, especially if it’s a subject I’m passionate about, and space certainly is that subject. At this stage, I’d dare say it’s a love-hate relationship, one I’d almost rather abandon, but I won’t. That still doesn’t excuse the way people behave in discussion of it. I love space, rocketry, and the like, but I also at the same rate hate it – it’s become too much to deal with really. Too damned negative, too damned political (beyond where it should be) and full of way too many argumentative people. It gets old, fast.
I’ve got big plans for 2018. I don’t want to spend them spinning my wheels around, well, in space. At least, not like that. As for finishing this up, well, there’s nothing to do but to do it.
