Well, here we are, the end of 2017. I think most people would agree one way or another it was a hell of a year – 2016 was rough, but 2017 really took the cake for most everyone, me included.
In some ways, the year here on my website was equally rough. It marked the first full year of me pushing out almost daily articles, and also branching out in what I covered, and how I covered it. This had its good points – the Angry Video Game Nerd episode reviews are progressing nicely, and I’ve in the past year begun planning out many more related series, both in review forms and in simple duration and discussion articles like Bits and Bytes.
It hasn’t been the best in other ways though – I developed a habit of covering space news heavily this past year since, as is very well known I love space related subject. This had a major detriment however through the year of putting me in contact with types of people and one type of attitude which I generally dislike. Being exposed to this nearly constantly through the year, and having a deep desire to address these attitudes and opinions sadly, by the end of the year, almost took over the site and was a major source of unnecessary stress for me.
It actually got so bad that from about December 23rd onward, excluding 2 entries on Christmas day, I didn’t write anything. I tried to relax, both due to being sick (as usually happens sometime in December or January for me) but also to plan, and plan I did – more on that soon, though.
As for content over the year, there is a ton of stuff I didn’t cover. Hell, even my plans to finish off some articles before January failed miserably, but that’s okay – I can wrap up loose ends in January, or whenever, right?
I do feel I produced quite a bit of good content – certainly some of my best articles – during this year, so it wasn’t all bad by any means. I’m considering looking back over the year and seeing what my best entries were and compiling those into a best of 2017 entry, but we’ll see how that goes.
For now, though, well, time to say goodbye to 2017.
