A new month, a new set of free games on via Games With Gold on Xbox. I don’t know why I enjoy covering these – I guess it’s funny, to me, to see just how random the game selections are each month. Besides, it gets hits, so it’s whatever.
Right, you know the drill, let’s take a look at the video and the games for April.
Starting off on the Xbox One we have The Witness and Assassins Creed: Syndicate.
I think I can recall watching a video a few years ago of someone playing The Witness, at least the first few levels – it looks like an alright enough game, especially for those who like puzzle titles. If memory serves it was a pretty well received title, so, as I always say, maybe I’ll check it out. I never do get around to those games I say that about, but hey, I might, right?
Then comes the big dog this time around – Assassins Creed Syndicate. Whoa, this major of a title, only a few years after its release? Nice! I still haven’t played much in the series, but I know the Assassins Creed series is extremely popular, and beyond the glaring bugs (which mostly have been fixed by now… right) Syndicate was well received. Come April 16th, I imagine many gamers are going to be very happy.
For the Xbox 360 we have Cars 2 and Dead Space 2.
Right, Cars 2.. right after Brave? Looks like Disney is really pushing out games. Why? No idea, but hey, no harm there. Like I said last month, with the Xbox 360 now being relegated to the console you let your kids play, it makes sense. It’s just a shame it takes up a slot that could be used for a more adult oriented title.
Speaking of adult oriented, for the later half of April we have Dead Space 2. Hell yeah! I still haven’t gotten off my ass to play the first game, but having Dead Space 2 in my digital library will be a nice bonus and probably (maybe come October) get me to actually play the series. Space based Sci-Fi horror? Hell yeah!
All in all, a better month than many others – April always seems to be a pretty good month for Games With Gold. Hell, last year we got Assassins Creed Revelations, and in 2016 we got the 1st Dead Space, so clearly we’re seeing a pattern here. Not bad! I’m looking forward to eventually playing all of the titles here, save for Cars 2.
