The Apollo 11 “Full Mission” Trailer

July 2019 will mark 50 years since the Apollo 11 mission, certainly one of the greatest achievements of humanity. While many fans of space history may be planning their own little anniversary events and the like, YouTube user lunarmodule5 has something a little better in store: a video series covering the entire mission, from pre-launch to splashdown.

This isn’t the first time he’s done this before, either – he’s covered many historic missions in full – Gemini 3, STS-1, and even Apollo 13 – all with actual audio feeds, video from the mission where applicable, photos, accurate computer simulations of the spacecraft in flight, and more. The sheer depth of detail gone into with these videos is amazing.

If you follow some of my historic space articles, you will certainly have seen his work before – he is often a source of launch footage for many classic Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo era missions, and I believe I’ve shared his full mission video on STS-1 before as well!

Of course, even with “dead air” and such cut from the videos, some missions still easily take many hours to watch in full – you have to make time for these, but if you do it’s rather amazing to experience the flight as close as possible to how it actually was!

Below I’ll provide the trailer for the Apollo 11 Full Mission video series. Go ahead and check out LM5’s other work. It really is awesome stuff!
