Well, it was a good couple of months, but it looks like Microsoft has gotten back to a less-than-stellar lineup of games for Games with Gold the past few months, and July looks to be no exception – or so it would seem at a glance, at least. Let’s take a look.
Starting off on the Xbox One, we have Assault Android Cactus and Death Squared.
Hmn, a twin-stick shooter? Okay, that’s a bit different. Apparently this title has been around for a few years on other platforms, and only recently made it to the Xbox One, but that’s fine with me, so long as we get the game. Looks like a bit of fun, maybe – it’s one I actually will try out when it drops on the 1st.
Next up is Death Squared. Oh boy, another puzzle game. Right, i generally enjoy the basic premise of these kinds of games, but find myself more frustrated than anything else – there’s often always one major puzzle that I just can’t wrap my head around and by the end of it, well, I just stop playing. Eh, it’s a game, I guess.
On the Xbox 360 we have Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction.
Oh boy.. Virtual Fighter. You know, I don’t think I’ve actually ever really played Virtua Fighter. Like, ever. Certainly not seriously, so I can’t really say what I think of this. I’ll give it a shot, maybe – I didn’t think I’d love Tekken Tag 2 as much as I did when it was free but, well, it’s turned out to be a regular play for me, so maybe I’ll enjoy this as well. I’m just not much of a fighting game fan.
Lastly is, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction. Oh… one of these. Okay, here’s the action-adventure-killemall game for this month. Right, it’s certainly the game the peanut gallery is most excited over, but that’s saying a lot – apparently they aren’t even too impressed by this, nor am I. Just not my kind of game, really, as none of the Splinter Cell games have ever interested me. You know how it goes, I’ll redeem it, but that’s it. May or may not play it sometime.
So, that’s it. Not terrible, but this video has, at the time of this writing, 3.5K likes to 5.4K dislikes – not the best rating by any means. Xbox gamers aren’t happy, but then again, these games are almost always hated by the YouTube fanbase when announced, so this is nothing too new.
