At the beginning of 2018, I set up a second blog here on Xadara, as a direct side effect to me feeling conflicted, shall we say, about discussing my more serious and critical opinions on certain current aspects of space and rocketry. That was, at least, the idea, and I quickly decided I didn’t need it – a few changes to my site and what I discuss and things would be fine.
Or at least, I thought that would be the case. I made the changes, and things were generally better, but recently, well, there’s been quite a bit I’ve wanted to discuss, not just space related but in general, that’s just not quite fitting of the nature of this site. I’ll only take my open discussion and thought sharing so far on Xadara, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to share the thoughts in question.
As I said, I had originally pretty much abandoned that secondary blog, but in the past 7 months I’ve realized it’s probably necessary in the long run, because of my never ending need to express myself.
That’s fine, though – it keeps things separated, but still has all of what I want to say here on this site – the more “hostile” discussion, shall we say, kept to its own section.
So, here’s what’s going down – I’ve taken the past week or so to relax, and prepare. I’m going to be transplanting any old posts I feel are no longer “right” for this section of the site to Hostile Space. Other content that just doesn’t matter in the long run is getting axed completely – older, no longer relevant “update” articles that related to the other content and the like just don’t need to hog up space.
This will certainly free me up on the main site and, as I mentioned last week, should stop that strange aversion I have to writing anything at all when I have a serious subject I want to discuss. I don’t want to write something trivial because of the “important” subject, but I don’t want to write about the important thing because of damned anxiety, among other factors. Not the best situation to be in as a blogger.
So, hostile space is back. Hopefully, it will get more use and I’ll keep things separated.
Don’t think you won’t find more comedic “serious” topics here, or things that are important to me but on a whole are small-scale that I feel are worth sharing – those will still happen (like the MLGW bill payment hoax from last year, for example) but the really major stuff? The things that are liable to get a dozen people on Twitter ticked off that I said something they didn’t like? Yeah, that’s going to stay on hostile space.
I may provide update articles, here regarding the site, or may “multi-post” some articles, if their nature permits it. We’ll see.
