Alright, time for another set of “free” games from Microsoft. I put free in quotes because quite a few people argue about how “free” these games are given that they are available with an active Xbox Live Gold subscription.
I’ll go into the details of this in the future but to put it simply, these are “free” in so far as you are not charged extra for them on top of the subscription service – they are given as an optional bonus, and not explicitly something you are paying for with Xbox Live.
Got it? Right, let’s continue.
November 2018 is going to be an interesting month for the Games With Gold lineup for reasons that should be obvious as we go down the list – it’s pretty damn good!
Right, let’s just get going on this!
On the Xbox One, we have Battlefield 1 and Race the Sun.
Wait wait wait, Battlefield 1? The big badass first-person shooter from a few years ago? The most recent Battlefield that isn’t current (I.E. not Battlefield V?) Whoa! Nice.
Of an interesting note, at least to me, is that this November happens to be the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1, the very setting of the game. Coincidence? I actually don’t think so.
Right, this will be a hell of a fun time, that’s for sure.
Later on, for the Xbox One, we get Race the Sun. It’s an okay looking racing game if you can really classify it as such – more of a flying game with racing elements from the look of it. Either way, it looks alright – I’m not complaining. I actually have the game on Steam but, for some reason, have never played it. Maybe I’ll get to that between now and the 15th to check it out.
For the Xbox 360, we have Assassins Creed and Dante’s Inferno.
Okay, Assassins Creed, the original one, a game I remember people loving back when it was released but now, now they criticize much of it. I can’t say anything on this, I’ve never played any of the main games for more than long enough to test them at work. Still, I’m sure this will be a fine experience if / when I sit down to play it, or for you if you don’t already have a copy or haven’t played it yourself.
Lastly, Dante’s Inferno. Oh, cool, from what I’ve seen this game is a hell of a trip, pun intended. I believe this is another God of War styled game, not totally sure, but if so? Cool. If not? Okay, it’s still supposed to be alright. I dunno, I’m all for this kind of crazy ass religious symbology in storytelling and since the original story is literally about a trip to Hell, well, this works!
And, that’s actually it. Damn, this is a good list, and even the ratings of the video on YouTube are generally positive! Of course, it takes a constant stream of AAA titles to make the average gamer happy these days, but that’s another article for another time.
Right, point is, a good game list this time. Enjoy!
