It’s the tail end of January which means you know what around here – me taking a look at February’s Games With Gold lineup! January wasn’t a bad assortment at all, but could have been better — let’s see how February looks!
Starting off as always with the Xbox One we’re looking at Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon and Super Bomberman R.
Bloodstained is obviously based on Castlevania, even though Major Nelson can’t say it in the video. That’s a good thing, however, as Castlevania on the NES is one of the definitive platformers of the era, and a game following in its footsteps is more than interesting to me! I can’t wait to check out this actual “retro” title – a modern game made in the style of older games. Awesome.
Following that will be Super Bomberman R. I rather enjoy Bomberman and while I know little about this game, I can only imagine it’s going to be a fun time much like all the other games in the series that I’ve played. I could be mistaken, of course, but I doubt it – things look solid here.
For the Xbox 360 we have Assassin’s Creed Rogue and Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.
Oh boy, another Assassins Creed game. You already know what I’m going to say — cool, but I don’t care. I’m sorry but really, I just don’t. I get they are good games, give or take, but there are just too many to play. Maybe I’ll get around to it, but for now, nope. Still, I’ll redeem it – I redeem every game – but you know the drill.
Later in the Month we get Jedi Academy. Okay, this is cool, another orginal Xbox game. Nice. In this case, some Star Wars fun that’s certainly not canon anymore, but should be a fun time if you just ignore that fact. I guess. I recall hearing good about this game, and it being an original Xbox title I’d imagine it’s going to be pretty good, so, perhaps I’ll be giving that a go a month from now.
So yeah, a pretty solid month. I’m mainly excited for the Xbox One titles, but I think there is something here for everyone, namely the older gamer this time around, more so than the younger. Hey, I call em as I see em, and your average 25 and under gamer probably won’t appreciate the Xbox One titles like someone older may — the Assassins Creed title would be more their kind of thing. As for the Star Wars game, that certainly will fit with the older crowd, I’d think, for the most part.
That’s that. Catch everyone next month!
