We’re coming into Spring (or at least, should be soon, the weathers been a bit crazy recently) and with a new month comes new games in the Xbox Live “Games with Gold” program.
A refresher for you — these games are “free” with an active Xbox Live Gold subscription. I say “free” in quotes because yes, you do need to be paying for Xbox Live to redeem them, and for the Xbox One games you do have to have an active subscription to be able to play them (a bit of an annoyance top many) but you don’t pay an additional price for them — hence why they are, right called, free.
For March 2019 we have on the Xbox One: Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion and Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2.
Ah, an Adventure Time game? Neat. Enjoyed the show, what I watched of it anyway, and from what I’ve heard the games capture the spirit pretty well. Pirates of the Enchiridion reminds me of the Zelda series game Windwaker, probably due to the whole “world is flooded” thing going on, but I’m cool with that – I rather enjoy the idea of an adventure game of this nature in the Adventure Time world, so we will see how it actually goes.
Next up is Plants V.S. Zombies Garden Warfare 2. I’ve heard good about these games – fun enough online multiplayer games set in the Plants v.s. Zombies universe. The first one had its flaws, but if I recall the second one expanded on the game play well and fixed many of those issues (albeit introducing a few of its own.) Should be fun to try out, and considering all the new players that will come to the game when it’s made available, I’m sure it will be a fun time for everyone. At least for a little while.
On the Xbox 360 this month we have Star Wars Republic Commando and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
Oh boy, another original Xbox title. Star Wars Republic Commando looks nice, with squad based game play that reminds me of the Brothers in Arms games but in the Clone Wars timeframe of the Star Wars universe. Hey, every game from this era related to Star Wars was set in the prequel time frame, and this one is no exception. Again, it’s an Original Xbox title, not a 360 game, so keep your expectations in the 2001-2005 time frame.
Lastly we have Metal Gear Rising: Revengance.
Cool… a game I have a physical copy of. Oh well, I didn’t pay much for it and this was many years ago, so no loss. Never did play it so now is a chance for me to do just that. Looks like a damn fun one (after all, I freaking bought it and I haven’t bought a Metal Gear game since Metal Gear Solid) so yeah, a great way to cap off the month!
That’s really that. Not a bad month by any means, honestly – weakest spot I’d say certainly is the Star Wars game, but everything else is solid. I’m happy, anyway. Got your own thoughts? Fire away down below in the comments section.
Catch you next month.
