August seems to have been generally regarded as a pretty good month in the realm of the Xbox Live Games With Gold program, so naturally a gamer has to ask: what does September hold for us? Let’s take a look!
Alright, starting off for the Xbox One we have Hitman: The Complete First Season and We Were Here.
Okay, Hitman, cool. I’ve yet to even try out any of the recent games — the only Hitman titles I’ve actually played were the first 2, both on PC mind you, so this will be a refreshing trip through old territory, in a sense. This game was released in an “episodic” style, so basically in parts, and this will contain the complete “first season” for whatever that actually means as far as content — I’m just going to consider it a “complete” game and go from there. We’ll see how I enjoy it as I’m kind of wanting to really give this one a go, more than I normally would most games presented with Games With gold.
Next up we have “We Were Here.” Okay, a puzzle game again, Alright, but this one apparently is a two player game… only? The video doesn’t make things clear so I just looked it up and, after a bit of digging yep! It’s multiplayer only. Well damn. I’ll admit, the idea is great, certainly, and people seem to have a positive opinion of the game, sure, but I’m quite the “lone wolf” in gaming, rarely playing with others, so… this probably won’t get much action unless someone I really like and trust wants to play it with me.
For the Xbox 360 we have Earth Defense Force 2025 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
Oh boy, another Earth Defense Force game! I have yet to play the previous ones they gave us but I’m not complaining here — it looks like another cool game in the series and if it’s gotten this far it has to be doing something right so, yeah, I’ll be enjoying that come September. Kill those bugs, I guess, right?
Moving on, at the end of the month we have Tekken Tag Tournament 2, a game I already have. Apparently it was free at some point a few years ago and I got it then, and rather enjoyed it. It’s nice to see it in the Games with Gold lineup, but since I already have a copy I can’t exactly get too excited. What I can say is, while I’m not the biggest fighting game fan I rather enjoyed this one (it really let me understand what all the fuss about Tekken is, you could say) so if you don’t already have a copy and you like fighters, well, this may be worth a try.
And that’s that. September looks like an interesting month. The comments in the video seem to be more complaining yet the ratings are good so, eh… I don’t know anymore. I don’t even know why I look at such — maybe morbid curiosity. Whatever, free games are free games and I’m not complaining.
