When I said at the beginning of the month that September was going to be a “when I feel like it” month for publishing content, I wasn’t kidding — I’ve written almost nothing the past week and a half, but for good reason.
As mentioned in a previous update, I’ve been taking a break from a few things — mainly, in that articles case, Facebook, but also in my day to day life just really separating myself from the internet rat race and doing my own thing more than I usually would. I’ve nicknamed this period the “Kurisu Yamato Sabbatical” as a bit of a joke, but the results have been quite a nice change from the usual day to day thing.
Sure, I’ve still been working the day job, and doing some tidying up around here, milling over ideas for future articles and planning ever more projects, but that’s about it. I’ve made more time to just kick back and relax and, incidentally, re-discovered a passion of mine seemingly by pure chance: a chance I couldn’t pass up. More on that in a future article but suffice it to say (if you haven’t seen on Twitter already) I’ve gotten back into playing Guitar and Bass.
In an odd twist something I thought I would make time for but haven’t was gaming. Yep, I’m almost begging to think I can no longer class myself as a gamer as I never really sit down and play the damn things! Maybe it’s just “not what I’m feeling” for now and in another few months I’ll get back into a kick of something, or maybe not. Don’t know, but whatever the case, I don’t feel like I’m living to make others happy right now, as I felt I was previously (as far as my “digital life” is concerned. No, I’m doing stuff online for my own sake, being a bit more reclusive but also much happier for it.
Consider it the digital equivalent of one of those trips to India to “find yourself” like Steve Jobs took in his younger years, but without the costs, or the flight to India.. or really anything of that. You know what I mean, I’m sure.
Okay, enough of this rant — I really just wanted to provide another update so things didn’t seem so dead around here. More to come on the 12th.
