Time for the annoyance that is the shortest month of the year, February. Well, at least this this time around it’s a leap year, which means 29 days as opposed to 28, which means one extra day to make sure you get the later games in this months Games With Gold offerings. This time around, I think these are games quite a few of us will actually want. Let’s take a look.
On the Xbox One we have TT Isle of Man and Call of Cthulhu.
TT Isle of Man looks to be a decent enough racing game — one involving motorcycles, this time around, which is more my style, and an accurate recreation of a well known course on the Isle of Man. Don’t know much about this one, the subject matter or the game in and of itself but I actually like what I see here so, I’ll probably give that one a go.
Later in the month we have Call of Cthulhu. Okay, a game set at least somewhat in the nightmarish universe created by Lovecraft? You have my attention. This looks like the kind of game that would be good for October more than February, which begs the question — where are all these games in October when they would be the most appropriate? Ah well. Can’t say I’m honestly too interested, in all seriousness, but I can imagine this kind of mystery title being something many will enjoy.
On the Xbox 360 we have Fable Heroes and Star Wars Battlefront.
Fable Heroes looks like yet another one of those party-esq 4 player adventure games that have been popping up quite a bit on the Games with Gold lineup. Can’t say I’m too interested, especially since I’m not a Fable fan, but again, it may be fun — more so for a Fable fan.
Lastly we have the big deal this time around, Star Wars Battlefront. No, not the “new” one, the first one, in this case as it was on the Xbox. Kick ass, another Star Wars game to enjoy, and one of the best by far. I’m down for it, and probably will give this one a hefty play through once its available in the second half of February. It will be a nice break from the usual, to say the least.
That’s that. A decent enough game set, I’d say, but Battlefront and that Racing title really are what I’m looking forward to. Other stuff, eh, you know the drill — I’ll redeem it, but I’ll probably never really play it. That may change, though.
More to come, as always.
