Well, you can’t say April wasn’t a productive month here on Xadara. Hell, things almost felt down right normal the past month, especially when you consider everything going on globally right now. So, with one month ending and another beginning, it’s time for the “What’s Coming” article for May 2020.
Right now I’m in a phase of tackling some of the more “pressing” backlog entries — the oddball tech articles, mainly, that I’ve really wanted to write for a while but haven’t found the time or energy to. I hope to continue those in the upcoming weeks, knocking out all the backend stuff so that my future project articles will have a bit more context to them; after all, why would me changing something about a 2012 MacBook Pro matter to you if you don’t have context on why that change was needed to begin with, right? Why would changing a secondary computer of mine from Linux to Haiku be of importance if I haven’t even shared what Haiku is or why I want to use it? Context is everything, especially for a blog like mine and the kinds of long-term projects I undertake.
Beyond the backlog I’m hoping to do my episode reviews of AVGN Season 7 this month. It’d be nice to knock out another set of those and push that crazy project even further than I ever dreamed it would go. Oh yes, when I originally started it I planned on quitting by episode 100, but here we are, going past even that. Honestly they are fun to write and as a fan of the series it’s interesting to watch it from a more analytical perspective, always keeping in mind what it is. That, agani, is the entire joke — I’m taking such a serious look at a simple web entertainment video series.
Lastly we have the recently mentioned classic game reviews I’ve got planned. I’ve got a short list of the first games I’ll take a look at and I’m pretty sure I’ve got the idea on how I want to actually cover the games and what my main focal points in each review will be. I’d prefer to keep things consistent from review to review so they actually have value when you compare my look at X game over Y – what does it matter if Ninja Gaiden, for example, gets a lower score than, let’s say, Little Nemo if I don’t cover the same key traits about each game from a broader perspective? It’s something somewhat lost in some other review formats and while there’s value in freeform critique of things I find having a system in place wins out for me personally.
Beyond that I’ve got nothing much else special. It’s just another month but it should be a good one. Let’s see what happens!
