Moving swiftly along to the June games with Gold lineup we actually have a post which is on time and not halfway through the month? Amazing! You know what else is amazing? Not this game lineup! Okay, no, I’d never call a GWG lineup “amazing” and if I have in the past please let me know so I can punch myself for that, but yeah, I’m not late to this one — getting it knocked out on the first of the month, which I consider perfectly on time. Let’s take a look at what we’ve got coming this month.
Starting off are the Xbox One titles The King’s Bird and Shadows: Awakening.
A physics based 2D platformer? Sign me up. The Kings Bird looks pretty interesting and while it does visually look identical to other games in this general range (Super Meat Boy anyone?) still, that doesn’t change that it may actually be a fun time. We’ll see.
As for Shadows: Awakening, another Diablo style game? Okay, fine, I like rogue-likes but man there do seem to be a lot of them these days… Ah well, it’s worth a try. Beats out the last game on the list this month… but we’ll get to that.
In the Classic lineup comes NEOGEO Battle Coliseum and Injustice: Gods Among Us.
Fuck yeah Neo-Geo! I’m not the biggest fan of fighting games but I’ll never turn down a good old SNK title. This will make a nice addition to the “games to fire up to get my mind off of stress” set — a set of games I think all of us working adults who happen to game have.
Lastly is Injustice: Gods Among Us.
No. Just no. I said it before, I’ll say it again: I don’t give a fuck about superhero shit (or supervillian shit, for the pedantic among you who may nitpick at the prior statement.) As mentioned above I’m not the biggest fan of fighting games and, as opposed to something that I can at least enjoy with an SNK title, there’s no joy to be had with Injustice. You can like it all you want, that’s fine, but I just don’t care. Period.
The irony is, I’m certain I already have a physical copy of that somewhere thanks to a set of games which I, for lack of a better phrase, inherited… and somewhere it shall remain.
That’s that. An interesting lineup, not varied, but still beyond the final game on the list it’s all at least got me curious. That’s a plus.
