Damnit, I was late on this one again. I’ve been busy, though, and let time kind of run away with me. Well, at least I’m getting to them before the middle of the month.
Right, let’s get down to it:
We open up with Planet Alpha and rock of Ages 3: Make & Break for the modern lineup.
Okay, Planet Alpha isn’t what I thought it might be at first — I originally thought it would be an open world title more like Minecraft or No Mans Sky but instead it’s a side-scoller adventure title more like a space themed version of Limbo or other such games. While I like the idea I just can’t get into such titles, so… this may get a pass from me.
As for Rock of Ages 3, well, that’s just weird. I can’t say based on the this video that I even fully get the games basis, but I can say I’m not the biggest fan of the aesthetics, shown (the “Monty Python clip-art” effect has never done it for me) and this may just well be something I won’t even bother with. Hate to say it but sometimes, well, some games are like that.
In the Classic lineup we get far better options: Conker: Live and Reloaded and Midway Arcade Origins.
Fucking Conker… the N64 game you had to be an adult to rent.. the Xbox remake which is well up there in value… being given free? Fuck yeah. You would be amazed that I’ve never actually played any version of the Conker games before, so this will certainly be something I try.
Lastly with Midway Arcade Origins we get some kick ass classic arcade action. There’s hardly a game on that collection I don’t enjoy, so that, you can bet, is going to get downloaded and played, certainly more than anything this time around.
So that’s that. A weak modern lineup but a damn strong classic lineup. Fun times.
Catch everyone in August where I’ll hopefully have the entry out before the month is half over. 🙂
