Why I Will Never “Debate” Kent Hovind

By a bit of a coincidence, around the time I posted yesterdays primer post on the insanity of Kent Hovind his daily video just happened to be titled “Why I am Not Afraid To Debate Any Evolutionist!” I say this is a coincidence as Kent’s inevitable response to anyone speaking against him or the ideas he vomits out day in day out is for someone to call him and schedule a debate.

It’s funny, when you notice the title; why he is not afraid to “debate” any “evolutionist.” It’s an incredibly childish way to look at the subject and is clearly a way of him saying anyone who doesn’t want to “debate” him must be scared — it’s not because such is absolutely futile.

Of course, it is completely and utterly futile. The man is incredibly dishonest –he doesn’t want an actual debate or discussion, he wants to just ramble his same inane points over and over and over and over, strawmanning the opposition with inane ideas that no one ever said — most certainly not those individuals he is talking with. He will ignore anything and anything said against his position, regardless of how in depth the opposition goes into the topic; regardless of how well it’s explained, he simply says “no, you just believe that” and go through another one of his precious slides, often times taking this opportunity to carefully adjust the subject from what it currently is back to one of the fallacious “points” he claims everyone against him believes.

There is no point whatsoever in entertaining such, unless you’re truly a glutton for absolute torture and really want to get some cred in the anti-Kent subculture that has grown up over the years. In my case, I’ve no need for such; unlike Kent I don’t need to constantly, endlessly push my thoughts out there all day, every day, on the same topic day in, day out, to build up some personal cult or rake in ad revenue due to obvious partnerships with certain 3rd party channels these “debates” are streamed on. No, Kent, I’d rather go to my wonderful day job and enjoy things like writing these articles in my free time.

Even if it was just a “discussion” (which is something Kent can’t understand is different from a debate) it’s not worth mine or anyone’s time for the same reasons; it’s really just a chance for him to get more people to see his inanity and afterwards claim he”s “won” the “debate.” You know, the “debate” that consists of him just saying “no” and then regurgitating the same garbage from his slides. That, and watching an old man absolutely fail at technology. That’s pretty hilarious.

In all seriousness, however, such intellectual dishonesty as presented by Kent makes him not worth directly interacting with — you could debate a video of him just rambling from his slides and it would come out identical to an actual discussion with the man.

It also must be found quite telling that a man who insists on going by “Dr. Dino” or, if you prefer, “Dr. Kent Hovind” would even bother “debating” pretty much anyone and everyone, regardless of other party’s background. You would think if he was so well educated he would focus on higher level opponents, but, based on the way the man speaks in his videos and presentations, how he describes the opposition as “crazy” or “idiots” or “stupid,” what have you, well, it certainly brings into question the validity of his diploma-mill certificate claiming he has a doctorate. I’ll say this much — he is a professional — a professional jerkass who no one should waste their time on in “debate.”

So, Kent, if you or your minions find my posts and want me to debate you, it isn’t happening. Hell, just acknowledging me will do more to help me out than it will benefit you. I’d measure your replies to detractors carefully, Dinoman — you’re making your enemies famous.
