Just a quick one since I’m feeling like I need to write something but don’t have the time or energy for anything too critical, but I did want to say I’ve been doing a bit of work on Final Zone BBS again. Yes, it’s still alive and well, surprisingly!
I’m hoping to upgrade the Synchronet version soon, but for some reason every time I update the files and try to run the BBS again, no dice — it just fails.
Wonderful.
So right now we’re still on a slightly older version of Synchronet, but that’s fine. It’s not like Final Zone has anything too special going on, but it is my BBS — a place I control, but one I’d love to adjust to fit the wants and needs of its users if it was to get an audience and mature.
Like, I kind of wish I could convey that to the small audience that would be interested in such, that I would be willing to expand things to fit user wants and needs. I did the same 15 years ago when this site was primarily forums, and it all actually went quite well, I’d say.
As always, the best way to access the BBS is via telnet (port 23) or SSH (port 22) at final-zone.net. Alternately, finalzone.ddns.net work if for some reason the primary domain doesn’t work. Of course, as a fully featured Synchronet based BBS, there are many other ways to connect but those above, as a classic text terminal interface, are the best ways to connect and enjoy the service.
Right, that’s it for this quick random post. Hit up the BBS if you wish; maybe at some point I’ll actually get it upgraded but for now at least the web interface is up to date. 😀
