Episode 7 of Ahsoka was quite a delight. We had space combat, a good old wagon chase (in as much as Star Wars would do such,) multiple lightsaber duels, more force pushing than the entire film series I believe, and all this while Thrawn practically manipulated things to his own end. Pretty damn fun time honestly!
Hell, we even open with Hera being judged for her renegade behavior, only to have that stopped by a surprise visit from a certain golden protocol droid we all know and love! Add in a name drop to Leia and you have one of those moment the hyper fanboys likely screamed over. I’ll admit I was excited to hear Anthony Daniels’ voice, but I keep my reactions mostly modest and just enjoyed the randomness of the event.
Indeed, this episode is full off little things that made me smile — especially the comic relief the little rock aliens provided during the chase scene. Contrast that with getting my first experience with Ezra’s force capabilities and I felt quite satisfied.
I honestly still surprised I’m enjoying the series as much as I am, but hey, no harm in that! I will say some of the CG work was a bit sloppy, especially when Ahsoka jumps, but as alwasy that can be ignored for the sake of enjoying the story. Seeing everyone teamed up is pretty awesome, but knowing they are on very limited time keeps the suspense present.
Lastly, yes, I can truly see why people love Thrawn, if this is how the character has always been. That being said, this little remnant cult he has is a bit strange at times, especially that Enoch stormtrooper — I seriously don’t like the “special” stormtrooper idea — was wasted on Phasma back in the sequel trilogy and that sets a bad precedent for that character concept. Also not a fan of the whole “mask” as presented but, eh, it is what it is. Just saying, I don’t like everything about the story like the hyper-fans do.
Let’s see where this goes.
